Tess Swierstra
Senior Project Manager/Partner
As the founder of Alyon Inc. Tess has a passion for the environment and plants. She is a second generation nursery grower learning the trade of propagating and growing plants since childhood. Tess founded Alyon Inc. in 2016 after being a site manager for a large landscaping company as well as being the senior equipment operator.

Harley O'Connor
Project Manager/Partner
Harley has been an Electrical Supervisor, managing and designing automated systems in mining, oil and forestry in North America. He works on project management at Alyon Inc. as well as designing our automated processes for using less energy, resources, and waste in production. Harley holds a number of qualifications in the construction field and has great insight managing large scale projects.
Dan Swierstra
Procurement Officer/Partner
Dan has been in the nursery industry for over 37 years and an owner of his own nursery for 30 years. He has many connections in the nursery and construction world to obtain any materials that may be needed for projects. He is a qualified heavy equipment operator and his knowledge of mechanics helps with day to day production at Alyon Inc.

From Farming to Environment
The Swierstra family originated in a small town in Holland. With a curiosity for new technology, farming production increased and allowed the children to have time to go to post secondary education.
"My grandfather was a progressive farmer. He was always willing to try new types and makes of farm equipment. He used to say that it was cheaper for him to make mistakes, so that his sons could learn from it, than for each of his sons to make the same mistakes."

Sieb, one of the three brothers to land in Canada, started his career on a dairy farm in the Pitt Polder. After he met his wife Maureen, he started S & B Excavating in 1961 and specialized in reclamation in Pitt Meadows. The original Pitt Lake Dike was constructed by S & B Excavating. Ducks Unlimited also contracted S & B Excavating to complete other reclamation projects in the Pitt Polder area.
Sieb's first born son decided to move the company into plant production, specializing in ground cover. Dan and his wife Theresa purchased their property in Maple Ridge in 1991 to expand their nursery into larger landscaping and indigenous plants.
Dan and Theresa's daughter; Tess, started Alyon Inc. in 2016. With the help of her husband Harley, they are expanding the business everyday. Reclamation is their passion, they have turned the landscaping nursery into an indigenous plant nursery. Tess and Harley are continuously researching greener ways to grow plants and complete construction projects.
